Friends/Portraits

Friends/Portraits are earlier enamel on paper paintings that I started when I moved to Vermont. Because the experience of living in a place where I knew nobody except my children (who lived with me in three different houses in one year), was so foreign from anything else I had ever done, I decided to make my own friends. Eventually, I met people and had real friends, and when my husband died 9 months after I moved here, I stayed in Vermont because of the wonderful people. The smaller pieces done in mixed media are very old and were done in the 70's actually in Life Drawing Class.
